A Kansas man and his girlfriend were arrested after they allegedly forced his 4-year-old daughter to go outside in the freezing cold in nothing but her underwear as a punishment during a family Christmas activity.
Brady Burr and Abby Bradstreet have been charged with child abuse and child endangerment, according to online court records viewed by NewsPlop.
Burr, 26, spent one day with his 4-year-old daughter and son on December 7, 2025, before he returned the kids to their mother’s home in Salina, Kansas, according to an affidavit from McPherson County District Court viewed by The Daily Express.
While dropping the kids off, Burr told the mother that the girl had wet herself twice during the visit. Burr said that she “got spanked” and was forced to remain in her soiled clothes in her car seat, which could have potentially caused a rash, per the affidavit.
The mother reported the incident to police, saying she didn’t find a rash on her daughter but did discover bruising on her lower back. She described the bruises as three distinct marks, adding that one had a line running through it.

Additionally, the mother noticed that her daughter’s “feet were red, almost purple, and super cold” when she was helping her get dressed in her pajamas, according to the affidavit. When she asked her daughter about it, the girl said that she “got put on the porch by herself because she was bad” during her visit with her dad.
The girl said that the incident took place while the family was decorating the Christmas tree at her father’s house. However, the girl said that she didn’t participate because “she didn’t deserve that” and “she had to watch from outside on the porch.”
The girl went on to claim that she was left outside with the door shut, according to the affidavit. She said she got the bruises from being spanked, adding that her father used a spoon to spank her before his girlfriend forced her outside.
Police received a photo of the girl, which showed “a red/purple colored abrasion on the lower back” with “seven, small red/purple-colored horizontal lines” and “three elongated lines that are thin and red/purple.”
While speaking to detectives, the girl said that she was only wearing underwear when Bradstreet, 36, put her outside.

The girl’s brother also spoke to detectives, who said that Burr and Bradstreet forced his sister to eat dinner in the bathtub after she wet herself. Additionally, he told officers that she was left outside in her underwear for 50 minutes, per the affidavit.
Burr and Bradstreet allegedly told the girl to stand still on the porch, while the children claimed that the adults couldn’t see the girl when she was outside.
Both Burr and Bradstreet were arrested on December 11, 2025, and they have since been released after posting bond. The couple is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, January 13.
The McPherson County District Court didn’t immediately respond to NewsPlop’s request for comment.
