The Australian woman who first accused luxury real estate broker Oren Alexander and his twin brother, Alon Alexander, of rape has died. Her accusation was the catalyst that inspired many other women to come forward with their own alleged experiences of sexual assault with the brothers.
Kate Whiteman died in late 2025, the Coroner’s Court of New South Wales confirmed to NBC News on Friday, January 23. The court said that her death was found to be non-suspicious.
“The investigation is concluded and the file is now closed,” the statement said. Additionally, the court said it would not release any more information out of respect for her family.
Whiteman died shortly before Oren, 37, Alon, 37, and their older brother, Tal Alexander, were scheduled to go to trial in a federal sex trafficking case.

Whiteman filed the complaint in New York State Supreme Court in March 2024, accusing the twins of sexual assault, battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress.
In the complaint, she claimed that she met the twins in New York City in 2008. She alleged that Oren would “constantly text” her to meet up, though she always declined. Additionally, the complaint stated that Alon would “sometimes pretend to be his twin brother Oren, trying to help his brother and call or text plaintiff on Oren’s behalf.”
Whiteman claimed that Alon “forcefully grabbed” her hand when she was leaving a nightclub in New York City in May 2012. He then allegedly forced her into a black SUV, where Oren was waiting for them. The group drove to Sir Ivan’s Castle in the Hamptons and Whiteman was led into a garage, per the complaint.
She said she tried to flee, though a security guard stopped her. The complaint went on to claim that the brothers forced Whiteman to change into a sarong and locked her phone away. She was then taken to a bedroom, where she was “sexually assaulted, abused, raped, pinned, groped, harassed, battered, and fondled by defendants Alon and Oren.”
The brothers denied Whiteman’s allegations against them in a November 3, 2025, court filing, according to NBC News.

After Whiteman came forward with her complaint, more than 60 women have shared their own accusations of rape and sexual assault against the brothers.
In June 2025, federal prosecutors accused the brothers of working together to drug, sexually assault and rape victims during incidents between 2009 and 2021. Additionally, the brothers allegedly promised women luxury experiences in exchange for sex.
On Tuesday, January 13, the twins pleaded not guilty to a new count of sexual abuse by physical incapacitation related to their federal sex trafficking case, per NBC News. The charge stemmed from a January 2012 incident that involved an unnamed woman, who they allegedly assaulted on a cruise ship.
In addition to the new charge, Oren, Alon and Tal, 38, have been charged with 11 counts of conspiring to drug, sexually assault and rape dozens of women in Miami, New York and the Hamptons over the course of a decade.
Oren and Tal previously worked as prominent real estate brokers who sold luxury properties in New York City and Miami. Meanwhile, Alon was an executive at a private security company that is owned and operated by their family.
All three brothers have pleaded not guilty to the counts they’re facing.
