Teddi Mellencamp is taking a moment to reflect on how her life has changed in the one year since she was diagnosed with stage IV cancer.
“A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain,” Mellencamp, 44, wrote via Instagram on Monday, February 9, alongside a selfie that showed her in bed.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum went on to detail the conflicting emotions she’s been feeling as the one-year mark approached.
“I have a lot of anxiety surrounding today but also a lot of gratitude,” she wrote. “Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me.”

Teddi Mellencamp Reveals She’s Started Therapy to Process Cancer Fight
Last month, Mellencamp revealed that she’s started going to therapy to process everything that’s happened to her over the past year.
“I started doing therapy, and it’s taken its toll on me,” she explained during an episode of her and Tamra Judge’s “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. “I’ve learned that there are certain things, like it’s hard for me to touch and move. I can see that I’m slower than I was before, and that’s really frustrating to me. I want to be back to the way I was.”
She added, “Now that the storm has calmed a little, now I’m processing. Now I’m starting to develop fear where I didn’t have fear before.”
Earlier this month, Mellencamp was revealed as Calla Lily on season 14 of The Masked Singer, which she said she wanted to do to prove to her kids that there was life after her diagnosis. (She shares Slate, 13, Cruz, 11, and Dove, 5, with ex Edwin Arroyave.)
“My kids have seen me in a situation where I was recovering from brain surgery, and I wanted them to know that there’s life after that,” she exclusively told NewsPlop ahead of her Wednesday, February 4, elimination. “And once you’re feeling better, you can push yourself and you can try new things.”
