Who is francesca scorsese? From tiktoks with her dad to directing her own movies

Francesca Scorsese certainly carries a famous last name well-known among cinephiles, but she’s also focused on making a name for herself.

Francesca is the youngest daughter of director Martin Scorsese, who welcomed her in 1999 with his wife, Helen Morris. She’s also a budding director in her own right, but is the first person to acknowledge that her dad has helped her get exactly where she is.

In an interview with Variety published in December 2025, Francesca acknowledged her role as a director of her father’s Fox Nation series, Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints, and said, “I got this obviously because my dad was overseeing everything as the executive producer. I’m not going to deny anything.”

In addition to working as a director, Francesca is also known for the TikToks she and her dad began making in 2021. Keep scrolling to read more about Francesca.

She Was Born in 1999

Francesca is the daughter of director Martin Scorsese and his fifth wife, Helen Morris, who welcomed her on November 16, 1999 — four months after they married.

In a February 2024 episode of Sirius XM’s “This Life of Mine with James Corden,” Martin revealed learning Morris was pregnant with Francesca was an “extraordinary surprise” because he was 56 years old at the time. The director, who is also dad to Cathy, whom he shares with his first wife, Laraine Marie Brennan, and Domenica, whom he shares with ex-wife Julia Cameron, leapt headfirst into the role again.

Martin told host James Corden he and Helen were “gifted with this pregnancy” and added, “It was extraordinary and by that point, I was 56 and it was a different perspective on life.”

He added, “It suddenly became the most important thing, her and this little one that was coming. We didn’t know whether it was a girl or boy and then in the middle of the night, five weeks early, she came and I saw a lot of panicking and moving around.”

She Is Open About Benefitting From Her Dad’s Career

Both of Francesca’s parents have enjoyed successful careers (her mother works in publishing and is also a producer), but her father’s reputation as a director is well-known around the world — and that’s something Francesca has openly acknowledged she has benefitted from.

In an interview with Variety published December 7, 2025, Francesca admitted she was tapped to direct an episode of her father’s Fox Nation series, Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints, because of her dad’s connection.

She said, “I got this obviously because my dad was overseeing everything as the executive producer. I’m not going to deny anything. I’m honored to be given an opportunity like this, and I’m going to do my best.”

A lot of people were first introduced to Francesca through her TikTok account, where she posted a lot of videos with her dad. The clips showed a side of the director that many don’t see, and endeared Francesca to a lot of her father’s fans.

In November 2024 Francesca revealed to People that the pair put a lot of thought into the TikToks they produce. “We talk about it first, and then it becomes a production,” she said. “And then we’re, like, ‘OK, no, we’ll redo that. OK, hold on. You sit here. No, we got the light here. Should we face this way?’ It becomes like a whole thing.”

Martin first showed up in Francesca’s TikToks in 2021, and she also told the outlet she asked her dad to participate because they were both a little bored. “I realized those videos got a lot of likes and I was like, that’s kind of crazy,” she added. “But also people really enjoyed seeing them. People love seeing him doing these things and the more normal side of him. People see this big, big star and incredibly talented person, which he is, but also [they see] the dad.”
