Sydney Sweeney is opening up about her glamorous transformation in The Housemaid.

Sweeney, 28, got candid about her character Millie’s glow-up in the upcoming movie while chatting with Entertainment Tonight in an interview shared via their TikTok account on Wednesday, December 9. “This is my character look,” Sweneey said while rocking just a touch of makeup, as Millie would.

“Millie has an understated look,” the publication said to Sweeney, to which she agreed.

“That was actually one of my biggest things with the costume department,” Sweeney said. “I did not want every single outfit, every single day to be different.”

She continued, “She has her staple pair of jeans, one jacket, she picked up stuff from the thrift store. She’s not going shopping and buying all these new products and pieces.”

The actress added that Millie wouldn’t have tons of shoes, either. “You’ll see Millie kind of mix and matches her outfits and I like it. I feel like the jeans are becoming worn; this jacket [I’m wearing now] is starting to get holes in it. Like, this is Millie’s.”

The Housemaid follows Millie as she’s struggling financially and takes a job as a live-in maid for the Winchester family, Nina (Amanda Seyfried), Andrew (Brandon Sklenar) and their daughter Cecelia (Indiana Elle).

Elsewhere in the interview, Sydney shared that she was a “huge, huge fighter and advocate for a lot of story points” in the film.

“I’m a huge book reader and so there were a couple different drafts, and I was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, where’s this? Where’s that? We have to keep this. We can’t change that,’” she explained. “I’m very much for the book fans.”

In the movie’s trailer, Sweeney starts off with her blonde hair styled in messy waves. Her character wears eyeglasses, sweaters and jeans. She rocked a fresh face as well.

As the movie progresses, Millie has a glow-up as she comes down a staircase in full glam. Her blonde hair was styled in bouncy curls and worn done.

Her makeup was just as much of a switch-up, including dewy foundation, filled-in eyebrows, blushed cheeks and glossy lips. She donned a touch of eyeshadow, black eyeliner and long lashes.

She made her look even more stunning with a white glitter-flecked top with a strapless plunging neckline and pearl buttons.

This isn’t the first time Sweeney transformed for a role. For her latest gig as Christy Martin in the biopic Christy, the actress gained 30 pounds.

“I loved it,” she told W Magazine in June. “I came onboard to play Christy, and I had about three and a half months of training. I started eating. I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour.”

She added that she had to buy new clothes while training. “I didn’t fit in any of my clothes. I’m usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27. My boobs got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy! I was like, ‘Oh, my god.’”

The Housemaid is set to premiere in theaters on December 19.
