Prince Harry is “hurt” by the criticism his wife, Meghan Markle, received during her trip to Paris earlier this month.
NewsPlop understands Harry, 41, will always be focused on protecting his wife and the pair’s children against erroneous or ill-intentioned stories he views as agenda-focused.
On Monday, October 13, the Daily Mail reported Harry was “left hurt and upset” after Meghan was accused of intentionally riding through the City of Lights near the Pont d’Alma tunnel — where Princess Diana died in 1997 — with her feet up.
“Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with. [Meghan] did not even pass close to the tunnel,” a source told the outlet. “The whole thing is a joke, but not a very funny one for Harry.”

The source added, “He was left feeling hurt, but the depressing thing is he wasn’t even that surprised. He was more despondent than shocked.”
Meghan, 44, was in France for Paris Fashion Week, which she attended for the first time on October 4. A spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex told Us at the time that she attended to support Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Director of Balenciaga.
“Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” the said via a written statement. “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different.”
Her rep added, “This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
The show was Piccioli’s first in his newly assumed role.
“This is a new moment for fashion, and you can change the rules only from the inside. I think we can deliver a new image of fashion that is about assertiveness, humanity and intelligence, which is not granted very often,” Piccioli, who succeeded Demna, told Vogue in May. “Balenciaga already exists in a community. I want to embrace that community and the spirit of Balenciaga, to make my own chapter in the same story.”
Though the visit was Meghan’s first fashion week in Paris, she previously attended similar shows in Toronto and New York while working as an actress. Meghan lived in Canada while filming the hit series Suits, which she departed at the end of season 7 in 2018.

The Duchess has a long-standing interest in fashion and has also championed wearing smaller brands and labels. “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with,” Meghan told The New York Times in August 2024 before adding she feels it’s important to support brands “that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting.”
She added, “That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”
