Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are all loved-up in the Big Apple in support of a worthy cause.
Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, made a joint appearance at Project Healthy Mind’s World Mental Health Day Gala on Thursday, October 9, in New York City.
The couple looked chic and sleek in matching black ensembles as they stepped out in the Manhattan. Meghan donned a black blazer and pants with gold necklace and had her hair pulled back into a ponytail for the outing. Harry, meanwhile, wore a black suit with a simple printed tie.
The pair were all smiles as they cozied up on the red carpet for the event. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were photographed holding hands and posing for the cameras before being honored with the organization’s Humanitarians of the Year Award.
Meghan Markle Shares ‘Worries’ About Her 2 Children Having Social Media
“Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives,” Harry and Meghan said in a joint statement last month of the prestigious honor. “As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them.”
They concluded, “We’re proud to be long-time partners of Project Healthy Minds as we work together to shine a light on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time.”
Harry and Meghan, who share 6-year-old Prince Archie and 4-year-old Princess Lilibet, will also attend Project Healthy Minds’ annual World Mental Health Day Festival on Friday, October 10. The pair’s Archewell Foundation also co-produced a series of discussions at the event that highlights changemakers working in the mental health community.
Archewell’s Lost Screen Memorial, a digital installation that remembers children who died as a result of social media bullying, catfishing, doxxing, sextortion and more, will also be on display throughout the festival.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Charitable Work Throughout the Years
Harry and Meghan have been focused on their various advocacy efforts since they stepped back from their duties as senior working royals in 2020. Upon their decision, the pair relocated from England to California with their children.
The step-down also caused a rift between Harry and his father, King Charles III. Harry reunited with Charles, 76, for the first time in two years earlier in September.
“The meeting was sparked by a handwritten letter from Harry earlier this year to Charles expressing his desire to reconnect,” a source exclusively told NewsPlop in September, referring to the father-son pair’s meeting at Clarence House in London. “They were not sure it was going to happen until just in the last week.”
According to the insider, the meeting was “super positive and very relaxed” for both Harry and his father.
Harry traveled to London solo, where he attended the annual WellChild Awards. Meghan stayed at home in Montecito, California, at the time, later making a solo trip across the pond herself to attend Paris Fashion Week.
Meghan Markle Exhibits a Modern Take on the Power Suit in NYC
The As Ever founder’s appearance at the Saturday, October 3, show was in support of Pierpaolo Piccioli’s debut Balenciaga collection.
“Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” a rep for Meghan said in a statement. “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different. This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
Meghan, who was sophisticatedly dressed in a white pantsuit with a matching cape for the occasion, later celebrated the runway show via Instagram.
“About last night. Thank you @pppiccioli and @balenciaga,” she wrote via Instagram on Sunday, October 5. “I’ve missed you 🇫🇷 — thanks for the love ❤️.”
