Inside olivia and ethan plath’s finances as they finalize divorce

Welcome to Plathville stars Ethan and Olivia Plath have finalized their divorce nearly three years after calling it quits.

According to documents obtained by NewsPlop and filed in Minnesota’s First District Court in February, Ethan, 27, and his ex-wife, Olivia, 27, both signed off on a financial agreement to dissolve their marriage. As part of their divorce decree, the former couple agreed to waive the possibility of either one ever seeking spousal support.

“Both parties recognize that after paying normal and necessary living expenses, neither has the ability to pay maintenance to the other,” the document reads. “Each party agrees that her or his waiver of maintenance is fair and equitable, that it is supported by adequate consideration, including the mutual waivers of maintenance.”

Ethan has been allowed to keep bank and investment accounts set up in his name as well as a collection of classic cars — including a 1976 Chrysler New Yorker (valued at $3,000), 1978 Chrysler New Yorker ($5,000) and 1937 Plymouth ($8,000).

Olivia gets to keep her company, Sunshine Media, as well as all investment and bank accounts in her name, plus a 2016 Subaru Outback, which did not receive a monetary evaluation as part of the divorce agreement.

As part of the filings, Ethan listed his primary employer as Welcome to Plathville network TLC and estimated that his monthly income is around $2,500. Olivia runs her own company, Sunshine Media, and also works as a “group travel host in the State of Virginia,” with earnings varying month to month.

Each party has agreed to pay any debts incurred under their own name and will hold their former spouse “harmless from any payment of the same.”

Olivia will get to keep her married name, “Plath,” as part of the settlement, rather than reverting to her maiden name, “Meggs.”

News of the settlement comes on the heels of the Welcome to Plathville season 8 premiere on Tuesday, March 31, where Ethan accused Olivia of dragging her feet over finalizing their divorce. (The Plaths filed a joint divorce petition in February 2024, citing an “irretrievable breakdown” as the cause for their divorce.)

“Olivia will not call or respond, do anything,” he told viewers. “She’s purposely trying to hold me up, trying to make my life hell. I believe Olivia won’t let me go because she doesn’t want to let me move on to anybody else. I think that’s her motive.”

Ethan also confirmed that he’d recently split from his girlfriend Teegan Nichols after going public with their romance in December 2024. The couple had a long-distance relationship as he’d recently moved back to Georgia from Minnesota while Nichols lived in Wisconsin.

Ethan Plath Opens Up About Wanting to ‘Give Up’ After Olivia Divorce

“I knew that she was tired of long distance, and I kept telling her that I would move to Wisconsin and I never did,” he said. “You can only tell someone so many times, ‘I’m going to do this,’ and you don’t and it just doesn’t mean anything.”

Last October, Olivia revealed on the “Lovett or Leave It” podcast that she wanted to divorce Ethan just one year into their marriage. Olivia recalled feeling “so overwhelmed with all the family problems” but agreed to hold off on pursuing a divorce because of her father’s advice.

“I remember my dad told me, ‘If you get divorced it’s going to break God’s heart and it will break my heart,’” she said. “[I thought], ‘I guess I have to figure it out.’”

Ethan and Olivia tied the knot in Whigham, Georgia, in October 2018 when they were both 20 years old. They had no children during their marriage.
