Millie Bobby Brown might be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood but that doesn’t mean she’s bought into the rich and famous lifestyle.
Brown moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in November 2015 to begin filming the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things. Only 10 at the time and one of four children, her entire family moved with her — a decision the entire brood doesn’t appear to regret.
“[My parents] didn’t want me to grow up in that world,” the actress told British Vogue in November 2025 of her decision to live life outside the spotlight. “I love what I do but it doesn’t define me. You have a sense of purpose within your own personal life.
In May 2024, Brown married husband Jake Bongiovi, son of the famed singer Jon Bon Jovi, later welcoming a daughter via adoption in the summer of 2025. As she settled into motherhood, Brown continued to add animals to her farm, which also operates as a rescue.

She Grew Up in Georgia
In a November 2025 interview with British Vogue, Brown explained why she opted to buy a farm outside Atlanta.
“I grew up here, you know?” she said when asked why she chose to stay near the city instead of making a move to Los Angeles. “This is the longest place I’ve been consecutively in my life because of Stranger Things. For me, this is my home.”
Her Parents Were Against Her Living in Hollywood
Brown’s decision to live in Georgia was also informed by her parents, who chose the state as the family’s home.
“They didn’t want me to grow up in that world,” she also told Vogue of her parents’ desire to protect her from the downsides of Hollywood life. “I love what I do but it doesn’t define me. You have a sense of purpose within your own personal life.”
She Denies Living on a Farm for an “Aesthetic”
While speaking to Vanity Fair for a story published in February 2025, Brown addressed criticism that she decided to live the farm life to appeal to a certain “aesthetic.”
“I’m not doing it for the aesthetic,” she insisted. “I’m doing it because I love it. There are maybe some trad wives out there doing it because it seems wholesome, but it is not. If you’re not picking up horse shit or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all.”
She is Passionate About Animal Rescue
Living on the farm also affords Brown the opportunity to engage in something very important to her: rescuing animals. In an interview with BBC One in March 2025, she revealed that she and husband Bongiovi have turned their own home into an animal rescue and foster service.
“I have 25 farm animals, and then I have 23 foster dogs, and then I have 10 dogs in my house that are my personal dogs, and four cats,” she said. “I have a Rottweiler, a Golden Retriever, a Great Dane, and then I have an 18-year-old blind Dachshund called Rigby who was left on the side of the road. I took him thinking, he’s not got long left, you know, he’s blind, can’t find his way.”

She continued, “Well, this dog is jumping on my couch now. It’s found a new lease of life. He’s thriving. I mean, killing it. Knows the house. I feel like he’s becoming unblind. He starts to look around, and he knows where the food is and the bedroom is, and he’s getting really good.”
