

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11, 2025 — Diane Keaton, the iconic actress whose career spanned more than five decades, died Saturday at the age of 79, according to a spokesperson for her family. While no specific cause of death has been made public, friends say her health “declined very suddenly” in recent months.
Keaton’s body of work reads like a roadmap through late 20th-century and early 21st-century American cinema. She first captured widespread attention in The Godfather
(1972) portraying Kay Adams-Corleone, a role she reprised in The Godfather Part II and Part III. Her collaboration with Woody Allen, especially the 1977 film Annie Hall, earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.Beyond acting, Keaton ventured into directing, writing, and producing. She helmed Unstrung Heroes, and also wrote the documentary Heaven. Her influence extended into fashion and design, always maintaining a personal authenticity that resonated with millions.
