Elaina st. James, 58, defends onlyfans amid criticism: ‘authentically me’

Elaina St. James has no intention of slowing down her OnlyFans career due to criticism of her age.

“I’m far from perfect,” St. James, 58, exclusively told NewsPlop. “But I don’t have to be invisible, and neither should anyone else, unless they want to be.”

Since launching her career in 2021, St. James has faced scrutiny for her age — with users writing messages like “cover up” and “Someone get their Granny.” The creator explained that she notices “crepey, saggy, dimpled skin” on herself and has had liposuction and a mini facelift.

St. James, however, has had the support from other fans as she pursues a career with the subscription platform.

“My fans tell me I’m aging like fine wine,” she said. “And I get messages from women saying they feel empowered by me.”

St. James decided to pursue this path after living a so-called “full adult life,” with a traditional career and raising her one child. In St. James’ perspective, her previous life experience has played a role in her not being affected by critics’ opinions.

St. James ultimately “weighed the pros and cons” of starting this career, adding, “I understood how fame, even micro-fame, can affect your emotional health long term.

After deciding to give this career a go, St. James said she has lost relationships with friends and family — which she notes is “deeply disappointing.”

Amid a rift with loved ones, St. James also began being recognized in public. While on a cruise with her family, St. James received a message from a fan that said he was sure they were on the same ship but he didn’t want to approach her.

“I was grateful for his respect,” she said. “But I still found myself staying in the cabin more after that.”

Despite opinions from critics and having to navigate new situations with fans, St. James said she’s grateful to have decided to embark on this journey.

“The scarcity of creators over 55 works in my favor. I don’t have to do crazy things. I just have to be authentically me,” St. James said, adding that when she’s ready to step away from the career, “I’ll just go grey and fade into anonymity. I’ve already lived a full life.”
