Britney Spears is working on herself following her recent DUI arrest.
NewsPlop understands that Spears, 44, has been sober since her DUI arrest, which occurred three weeks ago. The pop star is also attending AA meetings.
NewsPlop has reached out to Spears’ rep for comment.
Earlier this month, Spears was arrested in Ventura County, California, “on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs,” per a press release from the California Highway Patrol. She was taken into custody late in the evening on March 4 and sent to a hospital to test her blood alcohol content. The singer was subsequently booked and released the following morning.
How Britney Spears’ Family Feels About Pop Star’s DUI Arrest
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Spears’ rep told Us at the time. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
The rep added that Spears was turning to her friends and family — including sons Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, — for support following the incident. (Spears shares her kids with ex Kevin Federline.)
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being,” the statement concluded.
Spears is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, per online records.
Following her arrest, a source told Us that Spears’ inner circle was “looking into treatment options for both addiction and mental health.”
Britney Spears Danced Wildly on Instagram Days Before DUI Arrest
“But it won’t be easy to talk her into it unless she feels ready herself. You can’t force it,” the insider explained. “They just need to have hope that she will take this arrest and its consequences seriously, which she seems to be doing so far. She has already expressed regret about what happened.”
Weeks later, Spears was spotted for the first time in Malibu. On Sunday, March 22, Spears was photographed getting a coffee.
The following week, Spears returned to social media in a video with Jayden. (The musician deactivated her Instagram account after news broke of her arrest.)
“Thank you guys for all your support … spending time with family and friends is such a blessing !!! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹. Stay kind !!!” Spears captioned the Friday, March 27, Instagram post, which showed her and Jayden posing in front of a mirror.
