Brian Walshe’s case has been making headlines since immediately after he was accused of dismembering his wife Ana Walshe around New Year’s Day in 2023.
As Walshe currently sits on trial in Massachusetts, NewsPlop breaks down everything you need to know about the allegations against Walshe, shares trial updates and more.
What Has Brian Walshe Been Accused Of?
Walshe, 50, has been accused of murdering, dismembering and disposing of 39-year-old Ana’s remains in a dumpster in early 2023. While he has pleaded guilty to misleading police and unlawfully conveying a body amid the investigation, he has pleaded not guilty to his wife’s murder.
Prosecutors revealed that Walshe searched the “best way to dispose of a body,” “how long for someone to be missing to inherit” and “best way to dispose of body parts after a murder” on January 1, 2023, according to ABC News.
Brian Walshe’s Trial Began in December 2025
During the trial’s opening statements, defense attorneys said that Walshe found his wife dead in bed on New Year’s Day, reported ABC News.
He allegedly panicked and lied to police when he was asked about her disappearance, though he has long maintained that he did not kill her.
Ana Walshe Was Having an Affair Before Her Death
On day four of the trial, jurors heard testimony from William Fastow, whom Ana was having an affair with before her death. Additionally, jurors were presented with a voicemail that Walshe left Fastow on the day she went missing.
Fastow, a real estate broker, met Ana when she was looking for a home in Washington, D.C.

At the time, Walshe and their three children were living in Massachusetts as he awaited sentencing in a federal fraud case after he pleaded guilty to selling counterfeit Andy Warhol paintings.
Fastow claimed that Ana was “deeply disappointed” she was unable to care for her children when she was in Washington, D.C. and that it became a “significant issue” for her.
Walshe called Fastow on January 4, 2023, to share that Ana was missing. “I was just reaching out to basically everybody I could. Ana hasn’t been in touch for a few days. I spoke to work today. She hasn’t been in,” he said in the voicemail, which was played in court. “I’m sorry to bother you. I’m sure everything’s fine.”
While Fastow testified that he wasn’t aware if Ana planned to tell Walshe about the affair, prosecutors said that Walshe searched for Fastow on his phone on Christmas day in 2022.
However, defense attorneys insisted that Walshe didn’t know about the affair and that he loved his wife.

A Bloody Tool Was Found in the Walshe Home
During a hearing on Monday, December 8, 2025, Matthew Sheehan with the State Police Crime Lab testified that investigators found several bottles of hydrogen peroxide and a knife when they searched Walshe’s home on January 8, 2023, according to MSN.
Sheehan added that the knife and stains discovered in the basement all tested positive for blood.
The defense argued that there was no way to know how the blood stains in the basement got there, while they also pointed out that there was no blood found in the couple’s bedroom or bathroom.
However, prosecutors later shared surveillance footage that showed Walshe putting items including buckets, a mop, rags, a hacksaw and a hammer in his cart while shopping at Lowe’s.
