Amanda Seyfried recently opened up about what the next decade looks like for her after turning 40.
“It looks sweaty. It looks less full of judgment from myself. It looks healthier in a lot of ways, emotionally, hopefully,” she exclusively told NewsPlop at The Testament of Ann Lee premiere in Hollywood on Sunday, December 14.
Seyfried, who turned 40 on December 3, also reflected on staying present.
“I also know that life is fragile and life is short, and I’m getting closer to an understanding of how important each day is to be present for,” she added. (Seyfried previously told Us that her best friends would be by her side in New York City to celebrate her milestone birthday).

The actress has had her busiest year yet, starring alongside Lewis Pullman as Shakers leader Ann Lee, acting in the drama miniseries Long Bright River and promoting her Paul Feig-directed film, The Housemaid, with Sydney Sweeney.
At the Ann Lee premiere, Seyfried shared why she believes the movie will resonate with audiences.
“Curiosity is the best part of life, and you’re never, ever gonna see anything like this again. I mean, not for a while,” she said about Mona Fastvold’s musical drama.
“I think we’re talking about a real historical figure that most of us don’t even know about, and her story is pretty radical,” Seyfried continued, calling the film “unforgettable” and “an extraordinary piece of art.”
Playing Ann Lee challenged Seyfried, and not just as an actress.
“This changed my life as a musician as well, not as an actor, but as a musician. It’s completely revolutionized how I relate to music and myself,” she shared. “You’re not gonna believe the fact that you’re gonna get these shaker hymns stuck in your head and you’re gonna want to hear them again and again.”
The star previously said it’s been a difficult feat to balance her heavy workload and motherhood. (Seyfried and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, have two kids: daughter Nina, 8, and son Thomas, 5.)
“Honestly, right now, it’s really hard,” Seyfried exclusively told Us in November. “This is the most I’ve ever worked with two kids, and I’ve never had two movies come out at the same time. And so, I’m a little bit bananas right now.”
She relies on her girlfriends to keep her grounded in the chaos.
Sydney Sweeney Reflects on Playing a Morally Questionable Character
“We did a bunch of trips this year together, which is always fun, because we have girls’ night out, and it’s necessary when you have two kids each. It’s been really fun, actually, because there’s always something [planned],” she said. “It’s so nice to have those relationships. We’ve been through adolescence [together] and to still be friends with them? They’ve seen [me] at, you know, really insane, chaotic times.”
Seyfried has two movies coming out this month: The Housemaid set to hit theaters on December 19, and The Testament of Ann Lee, out on December 25 — both of which have earned her career-best reviews.
“Oh, my God, they couldn’t be more different,” she told Us of the films. However, Seyfried had a warning for book lovers.
“I’m very equally proud of both. I’ll be honest, The Housemaid is … do not read [the book] until you’ve seen the movie because then it will ruin the twists for you,” she cautioned.
