David Harbour will no longer attend the Stranger Things finale event amid reports of his bizarre behavior.

A spokesperson for the Paley Center told People on Thursday, December 18, that Harbour, 50, will “not be present due to a scheduling conflict.”

Harbour was initially scheduled to attend the Stranger Things: The Final Season Celebration at the Paley Center in New York City on Thursday. However, the actor is no longer listed as expected to attend the event’s red carpet, screening and conversation.

Stranger Things stars Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin and Maya Hawke are set to appear. Millie Bobby Brown will not be in attendance following a recent injury.

News of Harbour’s absence comes one day after reports surfaced of the actor seemingly exhibiting strange behavior. TMZ reported on Thursday, December 17, that Harbour was captured on video allegedly taking a man’s hat at a bar in Encinitas, California, which is a city outside of San Diego, over the weekend.

According to the outlet, Harbour allegedly ran outside of the establishment with a white hat and said to a fellow patron, “C’mon dude, f***ing get me.”

The patron followed Harbour and asked, “What the f*** did I do to you?” before retrieving his accessory. The outlet reported there was no physical altercation between the pair.

Another person on Reddit claimed they had an unusual encounter with Harbour over the weekend in Vista, California, which is also in San Diego County. The social media user claimed that a man who “looked extremely similar” to Harbour approached him at a gas station and allegedly asked for a ride to a monastery in Escondido, California. After allegedly rejecting the man’s request, the man allegedly got aggressive and started yelling.

The social media user claimed that he didn’t realize he was allegedly interacting with Harbour until he saw a news article saying Harbour was spotted at a Barnes and Noble in Escondido, California, on Saturday, December 13.

Harbour has not publicly addressed the allegations. NewsPlop has reached out to Harbour for comment.

Harbour has made headlines the past few weeks amid struggles in his personal life. The actor was previously married to Lily Allen, who just released her new album, West End Girl, which was seemingly inspired by her split from Harbour in 2024. Several songs include repeated references to Allen’s unnamed romantic partner having an affair with another woman.

“I just feel we are living in really interesting times — in terms of how we define intimacy and monogamy, people being disposable or not,” the singer said in a November interview with The Times. “The way we are being intimate with each other is changing as humans. Lots of young women are not finding the idea of marriage or even a long-term relationship that attractive any more.”

Harbour has not addressed Allen’s new music, but he briefly spoke about his split in April.

“I’m protective of the people and the reality of my life,” he told GQ. “There’s no use in that form of engaging [with rumors] because it’s all based on hysterical hyperbole.”
