Taylor Swift shared a sweet message for her fans following the success of releasing her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl.
“I’ll never forget how excited I was in 2006 when my first album sold 40,000 copies in its first week,” Swift, 35, wrote via Instagram on Monday, October 13. “I was 16 and couldn’t even fathom that that many people would care enough about my music to invest their time and energy into it.”
Swift explained that since her time as a young artist, she vowed to continue to express her gratitude to those who have continued to support her.
“Since then I’ve tried to meet and thank as many people as I could who have given me the chance to chase this insane dream,” she continued. “Here we are all these years later and a hundred times that many people showed up for me this week. I have 4 million thank you’s I want to send to the fans, and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was.”
Taylor Swift Breaks Down Inspiration for ‘Life of a Showgirl’ Album, Cover
Following The Life of a Showgirl’s release on October 3, the album broke multiple records, including being the most-streamed album in a single day on Spotify and having the biggest single-week album sales in the United States.
“Thank you for going out to celebrate this project in the movie theaters, investing in vinyl, streaming, watching the video, buying CDs, reading the poems I wrote inside the packaging, and immersing yourselves in The Life of a Showgirl,” Swift penned. “I’ll cherish this feeling forever. Just wow. Thank you for the lovely bouquet 💐.”
Swift also previously opened up about how proud she was of how The Life of a Showgirl came out, especially with all the work she put into it while on her Eras Tour.
“[I’m] trying to soak in this moment I feel of pride and joy for what I made,” Swift said during an October appearance on Audacy Check In. “I don’t necessarily know if I’ve ever been so happy about a record before. It’s kind of a foreign feeling for me to feel so joyful because usually there’s just a lot of stress in an album release week. This week, I just feel very uncomplicated feelings about this record. That’s new. So I’m like, ‘Let’s just ride out this feeling for a second.’”

In addition to the new album, Swift has another project up her sleeve. Earlier on Monday, the pop star announced on Good Morning America that a six-part docuseries about her Eras Tour will be dropping on Disney+ in December. The first two episodes of Swift’s doc will hit Disney+ on December 12. The streamer will release two episodes weekly until its conclusion.
There will also be a new concert film titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show, which will premiere on Disney+ in that same month. The new concert film will include footage from her last Eras Tour performance in Vancouver.
“It was the End of an Era and we knew it,” Swift wrote via social media following the official announcement. “We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”
